Over the last few years, Tumbleweed has been getting a lot of feedback about their bike model lineup from customers. Some wanted a flat-bar expedition bike like the Prospector, but built around modern standards like boost thru axles and optimized for a wider range of drivetrains. Others loved the Stargazer but preferred riding with flat bars over drop bars.
The result is Tumbleweed’s newest model, the Sunliner, a fully rigid mountain touring bike built with the same ultra high-end oversized chromoly steel tubeset and construction as the award-winning Stargazer, but with the longer reach from the Prospector, optimized for flat bars. It’s capable and comfortable, ready for unloaded trail riding with friends or an extended expedition to the most remote corners of the globe.
Standout specs:
The Sunliner features the same geometry and generous tire clearance as the Prospector, with the same rigid-specific touring bike design as the Stargazer, for simplicity and reliability on the trail. It offers fun, adventure-ready performance that makes you want to take the long way home.
The Sunliner’s non-suspension corrected fork design creates a huge front triangle and allows for maximum framebag space as well as easy fender mounting. The Sunliner can fit up to a 29x3.0" tire and has all of the mounting points for racks, fenders, and gear that you would expect for a bike designed from the ground up for off-road touring.
Tumbleweed co. have been riding the Sunliners in all sorts of configurations, drivetrains, bag and rack setups, loaded and unloaded. It's a very easy bike to recommend to anyone interested in a versatile and capable all-around bikepacking rig.
