Jamis has been making some version of the Renegade for almost as long as 'gravel' has been used to describe a type of riding. It's comfortable but quick, stable but agile, and packs in a level of attention to detail and versatility that many more well known brands neglect.
Commute during the week then ride the BVRT on the weekend. Chuck on some road tyres and go for a river loop. Load up with racks and panniers and ride to Cairns, or Sydney, or Hobart. It has mounts for everything, and is plenty tough, but won't weigh you down. If you can only make room for one bike, but you have broad ambitions, the Renegade should be on your list.
